SQA HN Unit Construction Technology 2: Domestic Construction.

Ground water control and basement construction. Site investigation, foundation systems for multi storey buildings. Superstructure and cladding for multi storey and large single storey buildings. Plant and equipment used for constructing buildings. Construction defects and repairs. The symbiotic relationship between conceptual design and the technology used to realise the design of a building will be explored using exemplary contemporary buildings.

On completion of this module you will be able to:
LO1: Describe the necessary preparations for the safe construction and assembly of buildings and building.
LO2: Appreciate methods of construction for single storey commercial and industrial buildings.
LO3: Understand methods of construction for multi storey residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
LO4: Research and apply technical knowledge of the construction process and product to a building design.
