Description of module content:

This module includes referencing techniques, technical writing and reflective learning strategies.
This module is concerned with fundamental research techniques in the built environment. The module offers the student opportunities to learn about the industry-based research projects, innovation and consultancy work undertaken in the academic environments. The module includes the role of innovation and entrepreneurship within the construction sector and influence within the market and growth.
Research methodology and techniques. Data collection and analysis. Referencing and citation of others' academic work. Research proposals and outputs. Funding research in the built environment. Current research projects. New projects, product driver developments in relation to Building Standards/Regulatory framework. Academic publication.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
L01: Discuss various aspects of built environment related research projects
L02: Observe and report on a research project
L03: Use a standard referencing system to acknowledge the academic work of other researchers.
L04: Prepare a research proposal
