Description of module content:

This module will introduce you to key theories and models in media and communications. You will be introduced to communications concepts and terminology such as the PESO (paid, earned, shared, owned) model, audience theory, and different sectors of the communication industries. You will go on to explore the role of media and communications in society. and the impact of advances in digital communication. You will learn to develop your creative and critical thinking skills and practice different approaches to communication.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Identify key communication theories and concepts and apply them to contemporary communications.

LO2: Analyse a range of media and communications models and frameworks.

LO3: Understand the role of media and mass communications in society.

These exercises might include a pitch for a piece of communication, a plan for target audiences, a short media plan for distributing your communication.
