Description of module content:

Professional and ethical nursing practice
Legislative frameworks within which care is provided
Assessing,planning,delivery and evaluation of care.
Personal and professional development
Development of Nursing/Clinical skills including medicines management and nutrition and fluid
Management.
Development of an awareness of the theory that underpins and informs clinical practice.
Access to healthcare
User and carer involvement, communication skills and compassionate care
Completion of 4 HAI modules
Support & protection of adults at risk including patient and public safety

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Develop an awareness of the roles of users,families,professional carers and other practioners in supporting access to health care.
LO2: Recognise and understand the underpinning theoretical knowledge required to care for people with complex physical health needs
LO3: Recognise and recall the theoretical knowledge that underpins the provision of holistic care for this client group.
LO4: Outline the sociological and psychological theory that applies to learning disability practice.
LO5: Describe the application of nursing practice, across the lifespan, in meeting the health needs of this group, Including end of life care
