Description of module content:

On this module you will develop further knowledge of post-production workflow and practices. Firstly, you will develop your technical fluency of industry post-production software packages. Secondly, you will extend your knowledge into advanced techniques of post-production picture and sound, specifically how these practices serve the film as a whole, going beyond the structural needs of the script. You will develop your confidence in producing a coherent audio-visual, cinematic story. Thirdly, you will have access to Avid Learning Central, and will have the opportunity, for a fee, to enrol in the Avid's certification exams. You will improve you communication, technical know-how, and creativity as you apply these techniques to short films and exercises.

Learning Outcomes for module:

1 Establish a clear understanding of short film Post-Production workflows.
2 Implement technical skills in an area of specialism, for example picture edit or audio post-production.
3 Demonstrate creativity in approaches to audio-visual storytelling through post-production processes.
4 Critically reflect upon, consolidate, and apply your knowledge of Head of Department (HoD) roles in post-production and how HoDs can work together technically and creatively in this phase of filmmaking.
5 Critical evaluate your work to contextualise and justify your technical and creative decisions.
6 Demonstrate professional values and behaviours, including good time management, effective interpersonal skills, and collegial principles of respect and inclusion.
