This module provides you with an introduction to simple English for everyday situations. It introduces you to the UK way of life and culture.

Basic grammar, including word order, articles, pronouns, adjectives, present/past/future tenses vocabulary relating to everyday transactions and cultural issues such as housing and food. The development of reflective, organisational and technical skills to underpin successful language learning. The development of simple independent research skills, using the internet or other resources as appropriate.

LO1: provide and ask for information on topics relating to yourself in English.
LO2: conduct simple everyday transactions in appropriate and accurate English.
LO3: understand simple written language and write simple sentences correctly
LO4: identify aspects of cultural life in the UK
LO5: reflect on the process of language learning
LO6: take responsibility for organising your own learning
