Description of module content:

In this module you will take part in at least two musical ensembles, one of which should be an unconducted chamber ensemble (normally between three and seven players). During the course of the module you will reflect upon what makes ensemble performance successful, strategies for improving rehearsal technique, performance issues arising specifically from ensemble contexts, and interpersonal challenges faced by musicians in these professional scenarios.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Construct a flexible repertoire of technical skills specific to your ensemble line-up;

LO2: Solve questions of intonation, tuning, blending, and rhythmic co-ordination within different ensemble set-ups;

LO3: Evaluate inter-personal skills, including those relevant to a sense of ensemble and working within a supportive group;

LO4: Demonstrate enhanced organisational skills in the planning of, delivery of, and reflection on rehearsal sessions;

LO5: Implement successful onstage strategies to present yourself professionally within an ensemble context.
