Description of module content:

Much of the module content will be specific to the topic selected by you and guided by your supervisor. Teaching includes: 1/ Lectures and seminars on the research process and on the specific tools and frameworks employed to help you manage your project (i.e. dissertation research or practice-led research in music), 2/ Group tutorials where you will discuss your work with your peers and your supervisor, 3/ One-to-one tutorials in which you will bring specific problems and questions to your supervisor as well as receiving feedback on formative milestones designed to give you structure throughout the project, and 4/ Work-in-progress presentations and forums where you will critique, inspire, and encourage your peers. The majority of the work on this module will be driven by you, and you will be empowered to work independently, critically, and innovatively as a learner and creator.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Integrate research and organisation skills in an autonomous workflow in order to manage a substantial project;
LO2: Critically reflect on the placement of your project as research within a given field;
LO3: Appraise and criticise the literature (which may include scores, recordings, or other artefacts as well as written sources) of the field to which you are contributing;
LO4: Through the most appropriate medium, compose a response to research aims and questions devised in reaction to your literature search and via your project-specific research processes.
