Description of module content:

This module encourages you to develop and enhance your autonomy and individual identity as a musical practitioner with a focus on creation, or capture of, live, real-time performance and interaction. You will conceive, plan and execute a musical performance, focusing on conception, actualisation and presentation as a performer*, conception, actualisation and capture as an engineer/producer, or conception, actualisation, and adaptation as a composer. Throughout the module you will be utilising your technical and theoretical tools independently and creatively as a means of establishing a style that is unique to you as an artist and/or creative practitioner. You will enhance your leadership and communication skills, taking in to account the relevant demands of your specialisms.
Bi-weekly tutorials and/or workshops will support the development of your specialist skills, focusing on goals you have set in negotiation with your tutor(s). These will alternate with seminars or workshops, focusing on communication and presentation, which incorporate student led exploration in sharing progress, ideas, and providing peer guidance and feedback.
* Note that students wishing to follow the performance thread in this module must have completed relevant level 9 modules with a primary focus on performance.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Adapt techniques, tools, resources, or approach in the conceptualisation of an original or personalised musical outcome.
LO2: Demonstrate stylistic awareness, technical rigour, and adaptability when actualising or capturing (e.g. recording, sampling) a live musical performance or session.
LO3: Synthesise and deploy the skills required in preparation for actualising or capturing (e.g. recording, sampling) a live musical performance or session
LO4: Manage the issues inherent in preparing and presenting recorded and public performance
LO5: Critically reflect on, and evaluate, application of knowledge and skill in actualising or capturing (e.g. recording, sampling) a live musical performance or session
