Description of module content:

The module considers a range of theories and models. These theories and models include seminal work such as Roper, Logan and Tierney, Orem's Model of Self Care, as well as more contemporary theories and models such as Care Pathways and Decision Algorithms, incorporating social, politicoeconomic, ethical and moral, physical, spiritual, health, environmental and nursing philosophy. Introduction to healthcare improvement methodologies, literature searching, application of relevant theories and models, care management.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Critically reflect upon care management within your own area of practice
LO2: Examine theories and models used in nursing practice.
LO3: Provide a rationale for using a model and/or theory for your own area of practice
LO4: Using a case study, describe the application of this model and/or theory to your own area of practice.
LO5: Apply knowledge of healthcare improvement by suggesting changes to care management that would enhance the care experience of the service user.
