Description of module content:

This module aims to provide you with a sound understanding of the approaches and techniques to structure, design and execute with rigour your final project (Independent Analytics Project) involving business issues informed by the experience of real organisations. This is a module that runs in trimesters 1 and 2 and is fully integrated with the rest of the modules in the programme and of course the Independent Analytics Project.The module will require you to implement the learning outcomes of the rest of the modules to actual research in preparation for the Independent Analytics Project according to the expectations of the programme.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Critically evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the approaches and techniques for structuring, designing and planning a large project.

LO2: Analyse business issues informed by the experience of real organisations to articulate project aims, activities, and a realistic timeline.

LO3: Communicate the key components of a project problem clearly and concisely, using written, visual and verbal communication skills.

LO4: Utilise Artificial Intelligence to search databases and identify key literature to assist the design of an analytics project.

Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 30 Workshops will be opportunities to implement the techniques acquired in the rest of the modules of the programme with a specific focus to the development of the Independent Analytics project. In-class debate and discussion: we will encourage in-class debate and discussion to help you develop your critical thinking skills and to learn from each other.
Online Guided independent study 170 Independent learning: we expect you to conduct further additional independent learning to address any additional weaknesses and gaps you identify to achieve the required depth of learning. Students will be expected to prepare in advance for the workshop activities.

Portfolio 40 1~2~3~4 Exam Period , WORDS= 1000 words You will produce a report for submission and presentation at the Designing Analytics Symposium. Your work will be assessed through Moodle based on:1. The content, which should highlight: - the issue or problem your project intends to address.- the aims and specific objective.- the availability of data - the methods you expect to use.- the project activities and risks to successful completion. 2. Use of visualisation through relevant figures (such as images, charts etc.) or tables, well integrated with the narrative in the textual content.This is due in the exam period of trimester 2
Oral Presentation 10 3 Exam Period HOURS= 15 minutes. You will present your presentation at the Designing Analytics Symposium. A panel of judges will assess your presentation based on the clarity of the narrative.
