Description of module content:

The Accounting Professional module introduces you to the role and responsibilities of accounting professionals within organisations and society, exploring professional ethics, regulation and career pathways across the private, public and third sectors. You will examine how technology and sustainability are transforming accounting practice while developing practical digital accounting skills using cloud-based accounting software. The module also supports you in developing your professional identity through the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career as a future accounting professional.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Explain the role and responsibilities of accounting professionals across the private, public and third sectors.

LO2: Describe how technological developments and sustainability are changing accounting practice and the role of the accounting professional.

Face To Face Lecture 20 You will be taught module content live in classrooms. Topics are discussed each week with follow up content on moodle to enhance your knowledge. This occurs over a 10 week period by the end of which you should have a good grasp of module content.
Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 20 The practicals are used to complete components 1 and 2, in a computer lab. You will follow a guidance document and receive tutor support whilst preparing an excel budget, posting financial transactions on an accounting software and completing a professional briefing, live in the classroom.
Online Guided independent study 160 Alongside the taught lectures and practical workshops, you are expected to undertake guided independent study. The recommended materials, and Moodle resources ensure you have understood the module content and have gained enough knowledge to successfully complete assessments.

Independent Learning Lecture 22 You will be taught module content in asynchronous lectures. Topics are discussed each week with follow up online moodle quizzes to test knowledge. This occurs over a 10 week period by the end of which you should have a good grasp of module content.
Independent Learning Tutorial 18 The synchronous tutorials are used to complete the coursework project. You will follow a guidance document and receive tutor support whilst posting financial transactions on an accounting software.
Online Guided independent study 154 Alongside the taught lectures and practical workshops, you are expected to undertake guided independent study. The core textbook, moodle resources, online quizzes and mock exam questions are continuously completed over a 12 week period to ensure you have understood the module content and have gained enough practice to prepare for assessments.
