Description of module content:

Revision of normal anatomy and physiology
Altered physiology to enable planning of appropriate and effective care
Systematic assessment of patients using ABCDE framework
Learn to plan rationalise and evaluate care to meet the changing needs of the acutely ill patient
Value of utilising evidence based literature, national guidelines, policies and protocols
Develop appropriate communication skills, clinical skills and manual handling skills
Develop an awareness of physical and psychological needs of all clients groups including those with mental health problems and intellectual impairment

LO1: Examine the effects of normal and altered physiology on the individual
LO2: Describe a systematic approach to patient assessment
LO3: Plan, rationalise and evaluate holistic care, using best evidence, to meet changing needs of acutely ill patients
LO4: Develop a range of relevant clinical skills and communication skills to care for acutely ill patients
LO5: Discuss the provision of care which respects values and takes account of diversity
LO6: Explain the value of using a collaborative approach to enhance integrated person-centred care for all client groups
