Description of module content:

Extend knowledge of tools used to inform / aid clinical decision making e.g. Glasgow Coma Scale, Scottish Early Warning Scale (SEWS).
Enhance knowledge of history taking, patient assessment and relevant investigations and use this to inform clinical decision making.
Plan, implement and evaluate the care for patients with complex needs, whilst providing a rationale for this.
Enhance knowledge and skills in prioritisation of patient care.
Draw on research-based evidence to improve knowledge of patient management, particularly patients with complex needs.
Develop appropriate clinical skills, including communication skills to enhance care delivery, team working and the patient / carer experience.





Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Theoretically and in a simulated setting, demonstrate patient assessment and history taking
LO2: Interpret data from the patient assessment and relate this to the patients’ clinical features
LO3: Determine priorities of care for patients with complex needs from potentially diverse backgrounds.
LO4: Provide a evidence-based rationale for the outcomes focussed care for patients with complex needs.
LO5: Demonstrate clear and concise communication in both verbal and written format
