A module guide is issued in week one that outlines the topics and core references. A 3-hour lecture/seminar is delivered with supporting learning material. Scope is built in for questions / issue prompts for student response allowing for discussion. Each lecture is also supported by tutorial / seminar session. The student input ranges from individual exercise to group tasks with defined output and expectation of presenting to tutor or peers. Specialist lectures are included in the programme. The Facilities Management module ensures the student achieves the LO1- 4 and uses a wide variety of resources to develop student engagement. Directed study focuses on development of the concepts covered in the reading materials. Students will also be directed to a variety of sourcesModule DescriptorVersion.1.2017/8Page 3 of 5including books, e-books, journals and internet resources to support learning. This module also helps to develop in students an active approach to studying and the capacity for independent learning.

The provision of formative feedback is a key component of the LTA approach underpinning this module. Formative feedback opportunities are built into each tutorial where you will be encouraged to engage with and reflect upon module themes via a series of different learning tasks. These provide opportunities for the module tutor to help with your understanding and interpretation of module topics. This formative feedback is delivered in class time in response to student contributions both individually and collectively. Formative feedback arises via the discussion and analysis of tutorial questions, practical examples/cases and associated reflection on a range of learning tasks.Assessment 1 is a piece of continuous assessment (coursework) and provides the opportunity to give students formative feedback on their progress. This will help inform students in regard to the completion of the end of module assessment.
|
The module is assessed by two components, an essay/research paper and a professional report. For example, you may be asked to research and analyse the role of the Facilities Manager, strategic FM or FM culture. You may then apply knowledge gained through a practical application report.
