Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach:
This shall comprise a lecture of up to 2 hours with a linked 1-hour tutorial, held twice per day over a consecutive five day period. The face-to-face teaching delivered in Week 1 shall be supported by independent guided study and underpinned with work-based learning when back in the office and completing the assessments specified for the module (Weeks 2-15).

This highly cognitive module is taught as a series of practical sessions in the computer lab. Througout the sessions new commands and techniques are demonstrated and the students are required to practice the routines under supervision of the lecturer. Students are required to practive the new commands between classes and in independent learning sessions in order to build familiarity and competence.


Formative Assessment:
The provision of formative feedback is a key component of the LTA approach underpinning this module. Formative feedback opportunities are built into each tutorial where you will be encouraged to engage with and reflect upon module themes via a series of different learning tasks. These provide opportunities for the module tutor to help with your understanding and interpretation of module topics. This formative feedback is delivered in class time in response to student contributions both individually and collectively. Formative feedback arises via the discussion and analysis of tutorial questions, practical examples/cases and associated reflection on a range of learning tasks. A photographic exercise will issued and formative feedback will be given on this.

Summative Assessment:
The module is assessed by one piece of coursework which are designed to develop the students' practical and written skills based on the module content and work Based learning.

Description of module content:

The module includes the following AutoCAD training and application:

• Use of drawing commands- lines, polylines, arcs, rectangles, ellipses, etc.
• Use of modify commands-trim, extend, fillet, move, zoom, dynamic etc.
• Use of navigation tools- zoom, zoom extents, zoom all, zoom dynamic, etc.
• Use of layers, relative co-ordinates, properties, blocks, X-referencing, hatching, etc.
• Dimentionising- styles, linear, angular, etc.
• Text –styles, text insertion, etc.
• Line types-continuous, dashed, dotted, etc.

The following drawing types are develop: presentations, plans, sections, elevations, and isometrics. Layout drawings [plans section and elevations], detail drawings [plans, sections and isometrics].

Learning Outcomes for module:

On completion of this module you will be able to:

LO1: illustrate a complex elevation drawing using AutoCAD;
LO2: review and produce fully dimentioned drawings;
LO3: develop insight to presentation and technical drawings at different scales;
LO4: present and plot drawings [presentation & technical] at appropriate scales.
