Description of module content:

Background to health and safety law in the UK; The Health and Safety at Work Act and the principle health and safety regulations; Institutions of health and safety; Workplace health and safety; Safety in the construction sector; Surveying Safely; Employee rights and health and safety; Management of health and safety.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety and its regulatory framework.

LO2: Explain the role of the HSE and its enforcement powers.

LO3: Apply the relevant regulations and appropriate guidance in particular workplace health and safety situations.

LO4: Identify and manage health and safety risks through use of appropriate risk profiling and risk assessment processes.
