Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
The outcomes of this module shall be achieved by way of a Trimester work placement with a programme-related employer organisation. Briefing sessions will be provided before you begin your placement. These shall be provided by the Placement Office and will explain the work-based learning process. They shall also help to develop your CVs and interview skills. You shall also be asked to attend a student recall to ensure that you are achieving the learning outcomes. It is important the placement provides the opportunity to apply what you have learnt about your programme and offer a work-based experience linking theory to practice.
Formative assessment shall be provided during the early stages of your work placement. This shall focus on your learning plan you submit in week 3 and take the form of feedback on how well the work experience you plan to gain from the placement align with the module’s learning outcomes. This formative assessment shall be provided by your programme leader/tutor. The formative assessment of your learning pan will account for 20% of the marks available for the module and extend to a report of approximately 1,000 words. (LOs 1&2).
You will keep an online diary during your time in the work placement which will be used to compile a portfolio of your experiences (approx. 2,500 words) What you record in your diary in terms of the work-base experiences gained and what you have learnt from the placement shall account for 50% of the marks available for the module (LOs 3&4). You shall then analyse the employer organisations’ core business strengths and reflect on how the experience of meeting them has enhanced your programme-based understanding and knowledge. This analysis and reflection shall take the form of a report extending to approximately 1,000 words and account for 30% of the marks available for the module (LOs 5&6).
