Description of module content:

In this module you will begin to develop your field specific identity through exploration of the historic and evolving role of the child health nurse. You will build on your understanding of nursing professional values and how the distinct values of child health nursing align to, and are underpinned by these. You will develop an understanding of the nursing process and assessment and evaluation of care is structured and measured through evidence based approaches.

Learning Outcomes for module:

1. Demonstrate understanding of the role of contemporary child health nursing.

2. Articulate the values and philosophies of child health nursing.

3. Demonstrate knowledge of models of care and approaches to nursing practice as applicable to child health nursing.

4. Gain an appreciation of the nursing process and its application to evidence based child health nursing.

5. Develop an awareness of key social and political drivers that inform child health nursing practice.
