Description of module content:

The module aims to equip you with the reading, writing and viewing skills necessary to independently approach texts at this and subsequent levels. The module will introduce key readings that will allow you to read literary and filmic texts with confidence. You will also be introduced to peer review and collaborative working. Throughout the module you will be offered structured guidance on key aspects of essay writing, research and referencing, which will help you tackle your assignments on this and subsequent modules. You will also learn about the university as an institution and consider the context of higher education.
