Description of module content:

This module is focused on planning, designing, delivering and evaluating career learning and development experiences in a range of contexts. You will explore the career education curriculum in schools, universities and in the community sector as well as analysing theories, models and concepts of career learning and development. There will also be a focus building up the knowledge and skills to enable you to critically reflect on theories and models of career learning. You will be required to reflect on your own developing practice in the light of the conceptual literature. The units will include -- Concepts of career learning in a range of contexts - Structure of career learning in schools- Structure of career learning in universities- Session planning- Facilitation in groups- Session management- Programme design and implementation- Programme evaluationThis module is available during trimester 1 for full time on campus students or fully online (over 14 weeks) for part time students.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Critically evaluate structures and theories of career learning in a range of contents and consider the implications of national and international concepts and policy development.

LO2: Critically apply a range of skills to plan, design, deliver and evaluate a group learning experience that is responsive to the needs of the target audience and maximises learning.

LO3: Critically reflect on your own developing practice in light of self-reflection, feedback and the conceptual literature.

You are encouraged to read more widely around the topics you are studying and engage in Moodle activities and resources. To get full benefit from the lecture, you are expected to engage with the lecture material. Lectures for part time students will be recorded and uploaded to the VLE three days before the practical skills workshops for the module.
