Description of module content:

The module will enable you to develop and critique your digital and information literacy skills relating to the application and use of sources of career and labour market information. It will include evaluating and accessing information resources and tools using a range of sources including websites, social media, online streaming services, AI sources and specialist software. You will also learn how to support clients with developing information and digital literacy skills. Units will include - - Locating and evaluating information sources- Delivering information in context of career conversations- Career web services- Social media- Audio, video, and online media- Artificial intelligence and automated services- Writing/generating career information content.This module is available during trimester 1 for full time on campus students or fully online (over 8 weeks) for part time students.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Demonstrate a critical understanding of the issues relating to the production, application and uses of career and labour market information and artificial intelligence.

LO2: Demonstrate a critical understanding of career digital and information literacy skills enabling you to research, source, critique and evaluate career and labour information and AI from a range of sources with a range of clients in a range of contexts.

LO3: Critically reflect on clients use of digital career information sources and artificial intelligence.

Face To Face Tutorial 8 Our weekly tutorial will be lecturer-facilitated but will allow you to explore and apply theory introduced during the lectures to consolidate your knowledge and understanding. The majority of the discussion will be student-led and happen within small groups. To get full benefit from the tutorial you are expected to come prepared having engaged with the lecture material. Tutorials will be delivered on campus.
Online Guided independent study 84 Throughout the trimester, you are expected to structure in time to reflect upon the learning you have undertaken in your scheduled sessions and to complete your essential reading. You are encouraged to read more widely around the topics you are studying and engage in Moodle activities and resources. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient time to prepare and plan for your assessment tasks.
