Description of module content:

This module will enable you to develop and apply a range of core professional skills gained as a result of work-based learning experiences, explore and apply the concepts of culture, identity and branding to your experience and share your experience and learning with students and staff at the Edinburgh Napier University to inform future work-based learning experiences. You will be required to undertake approximately 15 days of placement during the latter half of this module (or equivalent experience in your workplace). You will be allocated time during the work based learning experience to engage with lectures and undertake independent reading. Topics include - - Sector landscape and employment needs - Skills auditing and mapping- Successful teamwork and presentation skills- Developing networking and partnership working skills- Developing practical solutions to real-life issues- Reflective practice - Portfolio development This module is available during trimester 2 for full time on campus students or fully online (over 14 weeks) for part time students.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

Independent Learning Lecture 5 Lectures will be pre-recorded and uploaded weekly on the VLE at least 5 days prior to the lecture to allow you to access at a time most suitable for you. The lecture recording will include subtitles/close-captioning.
Other Work based learning 80 You will be able to develop and apply a range of core professional skills gained as a result of the work-based learning experience and explore and apply the concepts of culture and identity and to your experience. You will be required to undertake 15 days of work-based learning during weeks 6-9 (or equivalent experience in your workplace). You will be allocated time during the work based learning experience to engage with independent reading.
Other External visits 5 You will be offered ongoing support from your module leader on campus. During the work based learning experience you will also be visited (in person or online) by a university tutor mid way through the placement to review your progress.
Online Guided independent study 10 Throughout the trimester, you are expected to structure in time to reflect upon the learning you have undertaken in your scheduled sessions and to complete your essential reading. You are encouraged to read more widely around the topics you are studying and engage in Moodle activities and resources. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient time to prepare and plan for your assessment tasks.
