Description of module content:

In Design Major Project Part 2 you will demonstrate the full range of your design skills by developing and delivering an ambitious design project. You will manage your own time and demonstrate professional values as you continue to develop the design concepts proposed in Design Major Project Part 1 towards delivery through an iterative process of modelling, reflection, and evaluation. By the end of the module you will have delivered a significant design project, ready to showcase your skills and capabilities to stakeholders and potential employers in your portfolio and at the degree show.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Apply advanced design knowledge, skills and understanding to develop and deliver a substantial design output addressing the challenges of the defined project context.

LO2: Exercise autonomy, initiative and professional organisation and conduct to manage and deliver a substantial design project.

LO3: Iteratively model, test and evaluate design throughout key stages of project development, using research, reflection and evaluation to guide the design process towards delivery.

LO4: Employ advanced design skills to present project outcomes to relevant stakeholders

LO5: Critically evaluate and reflect on the potential impacts of implemented design outcomes within socio-cultural context.

Face To Face Project Supervision 12 You will work under supervision and guidance of one or more tutors, with whom you will meet regularly to discuss, plan, evaluate and develop your project. This may take place in one-to-one meetings, or in supportive small group settings.
Online Guided independent study 388 Following guidance and direction received from supervisors, you will work independently to plan, develop and deliver your design research project and design concepts informed by the findings of your research. You will be provided with a studio space on campus in which to work alongside the supportive community of your peers, and the support of technical staff in our workshops.

Final Year Project 100 1~2~3~4~5 Week 13 , WORDS= See description In Design Major Project Part 2, you will demonstrate your advanced design skills, by managing and delivering a substantial design project informed by research. For this final assessment, you must present the outcomes of your design project, along with a detailed account of your design research, development, and evaluation process. Examples of work submitted could include: a series of designed artefacts, models and prototypes; a comprehensive process book documenting the iterative research and development journey leading to final outcomes; and a report/presentation/video reflecting on and demonstrating the impact of the design as tested with users in context.
