In Graphic Design Portfolio & Employability 1 you will reflect on your own design practice, position and orientation in the field of Graphic Design. You will then identify your own professional goals and objectives, and set out a strategy for achieving these goals through personal growth and the creation and development of your design portfolio throughout your final year of study and beyond. Under guidance of module tutors, you will undertake one or more professional level design briefs (national or international design competition briefs or live briefs set by external partners) which will contribute towards the design portfolio which you will use to promote yourself to the world upon graduation. This module is followed by Graphic Design Portfolio & Employability 2, in which you will continue further developing and enhancing your portfolio and employability skills throughout in your final trimester of study.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Critically identify, define, conceptualise and analyse complex problems within design briefs.

LO2: Critically review the state of current knowledge, skills, practices and thinking within contemporary Graphic Design industry, and define your own position in relation to this.

LO3: Demonstrate application of detailed knowledge and understanding at the forefront of contemporary design practice to produce original and creative responses to design challenges.

LO4: Practise in ways that show awareness of own and others’ roles, responsibilities, and ethical values within professional design practice.

LO5: Identify professional goals and objectives, and set out a strategy for personal growth and development.
