Description of module content:

In this module you will action the plan and realise the opportunities identified in the Major Project (Discovery) module. You will conduct a self directed project and engage in appropriate research and practice to deliver evidenced proposals. You will be guided through the process by a supervisor who will provide formative feedback on your work in progress.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Demonstrate a critical understanding of a range of principles and techniques for conducting a suitable design research investigation.

LO2: Develop the creative capacity to interpret, respond to and mitigate ambiguous and bounded problems.

LO3: Demonstrate leadership and/or initiative and make an identifiable contribution to change and development in research for design.

LO4: Manage complex ethical and professional issues and make informed judgements on issues related to the practice of design research.

LO5: Effectively communicate, using appropriate methods, complex design research to a range of audiences with different levels of knowledge and or expertise.

Face To Face Lecture 8 4 lectures covering the expectations of the module, supervisor allocations and how to undertake your work. This will include discussions on effective report writing and data presentation.
Face To Face Project Supervision 14 Project supervision from subject specialists. These specialists will guide you through the process of recruiting participants, gathering data and then understanding that data. You will then be guided through a process of reflection on your own performance. You will receive formative feedback on your work in process during supervision meetings.
Online Guided independent study 378 You will undertake a significant independent piece of work. Much of the work undertaken will be developed by you in response to supervision meetings.
