Description of module content:

In this module you will acquire the relevant skills and knowledge to conduct a practice based output. You will work closely with a supervisor and will negotiate the nature of your output. You will explore creative practice and how this practice can be used to inform or generate research outputs. The final output from this module will be targeted toward public dissemination, for example in a festival or conference.The nature of your work and its manifestation will be determined between you and your supervisor. The module straddles two trimesters and represents a significant piece of self directed work. You are expected over the course of the module to learn how to develop your practice and be able to determine how a successful output would manifest and how to evaluate that success.In the first trimester you will focus on developing practical skills that will enable you to produce work relevant to your practice. You may spend this time learning craft skills, learning software and/or developing skills in the workshop. Simultaneously, you will explore relevant practice based outcomes that already exist in the world. You will develop a critical language that will enable you understand and critique practice based work. By the end of this trimester you will have created several prototype outputs that will help you determine your final output for trimester 2. You will formally present your exploratory work to your peers.Over the course of trimester 2 you will develop and deliver a significant practice based output. This output is expected to be contributed to the School of Arts and Creative Industries degree show.

LO5: Communicate an understanding of evaluation techniques appropriate to your practice and apply them to successfully understand the quality of your own work.
