Student Activity (Notional Equivalent Study Hours (NESH))
Mode of activityLearning & Teaching ActivityNESH (Study Hours)NESH Description
Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 12 This module begins with four half-day in-person workshops (Weeks 5-6 of Tri2, the first trimester of this module) where you will begin to engage in critical reflection upon your own practice through topics including Learning Design, Curriculum Development, Assessment & Feedback, and Quality Assurance & Enhancement. These sessions will begin work towards your assessments, with specific focus on preparing for and undertaking: Peer Observation, Practitioner Enquiry, and Enhancement plan.
Other Work based learning 16 This module draws upon your current practice to enable your applied, professional learning. This work will contribute specifically to your Peer Observation (approx 4 hours), Practitioner Enquiry (approx 8 hours), and Enhancement (approx 4 hours) activities. Please note that a significant share of your 'independent study' will also be work-based as you apply your learning in your practice. These hours are not separated out explicitly.
Independent Learning Guided independent study 336 Guided by the tutor prompts and supported by your peer group and fellow students on the cohort, you will engage in deeper reflection of your own role and development in teaching and supporting learning. Deep engagement with key literature, both tutor-suggested and independently sourced according to your own practice and interests, and feedback from peer activities will enable your completion of the summative assessments directly related to your development as a critically reflective educator.
Independent Learning GROUPIND_STUDY 24 You will work regularly in your peer groups, guided by prompts from the set readings and in workshop activities, which will support your completion of the formative assessments (and, critically reflecting upon these, the summative assessments). Moreover, key cross-institutional collaborative pairings with peers in the module will enable your completion of Peer Observation, Practitioner Enquiry, and Enhancement plan activities and their respective assessments.
Independent Learning Practical classes and workshops 12 Following the initial four half-day in-person workshops, monthly supportive online sessions (2h) will help keep you on track as you develop your learning and assessments.
