While the nature of the work to be undertaken within the context of the module is negotiated, the concepts, themes and issues that will be engaged with through practice and reflection include:

Theoretical concepts relating to blended and online education
Good practice in teaching online and the role of the online tutor
Learning styles, cultural diversity, and technological diversity
Supporting online discussion and collaborative working
Evaluating the blended and online student experience
Peer mentoring and student empowerment online
The online tutor as reflective educator
Enhancing your practice


Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Evidence critical engagement with current thinking relating to the role, responsibilities and skills required of the tutor in blended and online course contexts
LO2: Apply conceptual knowledge and practical skill in supporting individual students and collaborative groups in their undertaking of the blended and online activities within a particular course context
LO3: Design and apply appropriate strategies for evaluating the online student experience
LO4: Critically reflect upon personal ability, growth and future development as an online educator
LO5: Synthesise critical awareness, applied practice, and personal reflection as covered in Learning Outcomes 1 to 4 within a final electronic patchwork text that makes appropriate use of selected technologies
