Description of module content:

This module will consist of 6 main topics:1. Complex numbers in Cartesian, Polar and Exponential forms2. Foundation Mathematics including algebra, functions and their graphs3. Concept of differentiation involving product, quotient and chain rules4. Indefinite and definite integrals with engineering applications5. Solving engineering problems involving scalar and vector products6. Descriptive Statistics using a graphical calculator or software

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Manipulate complex numbers.

LO2: Simplify algebraic expressions and rearrange formulae which involve indices and logarithms.

LO3: Use trigonometry ratios and identities and apply wave functions.

LO4: Perform basic differentiation and integration including engineering applications.

LO5: Express vectors in three dimensions. Solve engineering problems using scalar and vector products.

LO6: Interpret and communicate information from a set of data.
