Description of module content:

This module investigates how policies and regulations might drive or hinder successful digital transformations across different industries and sectors. Upon completion of this module, you will have the ability to critically evaluate and report on how digital transformations are managed and governed through policies and regulation. For instance, the increasing use of data management and protection (GDPR), of Artificial Intelligence in public decisions (AI), or applications regarding the Internet of Things (IoT) all require an understanding and swift response from public and business leaders. More specifically, the module will provide you with the necessary knowledge on how different public and private organisations adapt or respond to the challenge of digital transformations, across several policy and regulatory contexts and in different areas across the world (local, national, or international).

Assessment
Type of Assessment Weighting % LOs covered Week due Length in Hours/Words Description
Portfolio 30 1~2~3 Week 7 , WORDS= 1000 words As part of this first summative assessment, you will work in group with other students to submit a digital artefact accompanied by a 1,000 words description (excluding references). The aim of the digital artefact is to improve your communication and presentation skills. It will allow you to present your findings and argument, to a wider audience, under the form of a digital poster or video. The artefact can be submitted online as a PDF, Powerpoint, JPG/PNG image, Adobe, or video format file. The artefact will outline how a specific organization (public or private) has been affected and how they have responded and adapted to the policies and the regulation of digital transformation. Apart from communication and presentation skills, the assessment will evaluate analytical thinking and understanding of the impact that policies and regulations have on digital transformation in different organisations across the Global South or Global North. Written feedback will be provided to each group on their submitted digital artefact and description.

This will be under the form of a policy evaluation report and on a chosen topic, which will be agreed in advance with the module leader. You will be asked to critically assess the impact that policies and regulation have had on the digital transformation journey of an organisation of your choice. Your analysis will have to be theoretically grounded, and evidence based. Individual feedback will be provided on reports, which will be marked in accordance with the theoretical and empirical quality of the work, including your ability to provide solutions and policy recommendations helpful in a real-world context.
