| Type of Assessment | Weighting % | LOs covered | Week due | Length in Hours/Words | Description |
| Final Year Project | 70 | 1~2~3~4 | Exam Period | , WORDS= 8000 words | The honours project report is the major piece of summative assessment for the module. Your report should clearly communicate your research questions, methods and results and have an abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion section, each of which receive a proportion of the overall marks available. This is clearly explained in the assessment brief and guidance document on Moodle. |
| Poster | 20 | 2~3~4 | Exam Period | , WORDS= A0 size poster | The poster assessment is the final summative assessment of the module. You will submit the poster via Moodle, where it will be marked. The poster assesses your communication of the main research questions, methods and findings for your project in an authentic way that scientists regularly use at conferences. You will be given the opportunity to present your poster (which you must print) to your peers and academic and technical staff at the end of the module. Further guidance is to be found in the assessment brief and guidance documents on Moodle. |
| Report | 10 | 1 | Week 3 | , WORDS= 2500 words | The proposal is the first assessment in the module. The aim is for you to communicate the context of your research and justify your research questions through a brief literature review. You will also propose a set of methods to collect and/ or analyse your data together with a timeline and set of costings for the project which will be assessed for feasibility and appropriateness. Studies including human participants will complete a modified version of the proposal that incorporates an ethics application, More details of the assessment criteria can be found in the assessment brief on Moodle. |
