Description of module content:

For this module you will engage with the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) Professional Competency Framework to identify technical competencies relevant to your desired career path. In discussion with your tutor you will formulate learning outcomes, plan and conduct field work to develop your skills in relation to these competencies. You will critically evaluate the implementation of techniques you have tried and critically reflect upon the applications and implications of what you have learned through practical work. You will prepare a portfolio of work and develop a plan for ongoing professional development.

LO1: Formulate a professional development plan to develop capability in technical competencies relevant to your proposed career path, with reference to a professional competence framework.

Online Fieldwork 18 You will plan, risk-assess, undertake and evaluate fieldwork appropriate to your context and relevant to your professional development goals.
Online Guided independent study 75 Your independent study will include evaluating your current position on a professional competency framework, reflecting on your ambitions, planning learning/development activities, reflecting on and critically evaluating fieldwork experiences, self-directed reading to support your evaluation of field experience and preparing your assessments for submission.
Independent Learning On-demand Webinar 6 Recorded lectures and on-demand webinars will introduce the CIEEM competency framework, best-practice principles for field methods in wildlife biology and conservation and how to plan appropriate learning outcomes and fieldwork activities.
