Description of module content:

This module provides a comprehensive introduction to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and their growing significance in business, finance, and investment decision-making. It begins with an overview of ESG principles and their implications for firms, stakeholders, and society. You will explore environmental factors such as climate change, resource management, and carbon emissions, assessing their impact on corporate strategies and stakeholder engagement. Social factors, including labor rights, diversity, and community relations, will be examined alongside governance elements like corporate ethics, board structures, and transparency. The module also introduces ESG scoring systems, highlighting key methodologies used to assess corporate sustainability performance. Sustainable finance will be explored in the context of addressing environmental and social challenges, with a focus on financial instruments such as green bonds, impact investing, and sustainability-linked loans. You will gain an understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance in ESG integration. In this course, you will also cover corporate social responsibility (CSR) and strategies for embedding ESG considerations into investment decision-making. By the end of this module, you will be equipped with the knowledge to analyse sustainable finance markets and instruments, ensuring responsible and ethical business practices.

Face To Face Lecture 27 As per the agreement with YUFE, the lectures will be running face-to-face within three weeks. Lectures will provide you with an overview of key issues and concepts in order to guide your individual reading and research.
Face To Face Tutorial 36 The tutorial session will be running face-to-face within three weeks. Tutorials will reinforce learning by providing opportunities for you to ask questions and seek further clarification on aspects of the module and for general discussion of relevant topical issues. The tutorials will also give you opportunities to develop a range of interpersonal and communicative skills through a programme of predominantly student-led activities, such as question and answer sessions.
