Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
LOs 1-4. The LTA approach consists of formal lectures and tutorials. Tutorials will used for general discussion of issues raised in lectures, solving practical problem sets and short group presentations related to specific case studies. The directed study tasks in these tutorials are designed to provide student focus on key issues and the principal reading material.LOs 1-4. The tutorial programme tasks will promote and develop employability and sholarship skills such as: task management, research, group co-ordination and co-operation, synthesis and presentational skills.Formative assessment. LOs 1-4. Tutorial problem sets/case studies/presentations will give exposure to the practical application of issues raised in lectures and feedback on their learning.Summative assessment. Different parts of LOs 1-4 will be covered in the mid-term practical assessment of two hour duration. A selection of questions will be offered and students will choose which to answer and, consequently, which LOs they will be examined upon. LOs 1-4 centrally timetabled examination of two hour duration - 10 from 10 short answer questions, 1 from 2 data response questions and 1 from 3 essay style questions.The teaching team members are all activiely involved in research and scholarly activity which ensures that the module materials for all LOs are current and credible.To support equality and diversity all teaching materials used in lectures and tutorials will be available on WebCT. Web links to key articles/podcasts will be provided. Tutor support both face-to-face (surgery hours) and by e-mail will be provided.For LOs 1-4 a range of relevant examples from markets, institutions and users in different parts of the world besides the UK are used throughout the module.
