Description of module content:

In this module, you will examine will the origins of, and methodological approaches to, the assessment processes used to establish the functional relationships underpinning behaviour described as challenging. Utilising information-gathering process including the use of information from records, questionnaires and observations
You will develop skills required to complete functional assessment of behaviour using reliable and ethically sound direct observations, records and questionnaires.

You will have the opportunity to develop associated skills and scenario based skills teaching (aligned to the PBS Academy competence framework) within practice to contextualise the theory to practice

Indicative content includes:
Behaviour assessment, interpretation of data, behaviour change procedures, systems support and quality of life outcomes

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:

LO 1:Discuss the assessment and implementation process, of formulation based intervention plans;

LO 2: Discuss operational descriptions of behaviour, identifying antecedents, consequences and conduct mediator/ecological analyses

LO 3: Critically reflect upon client assessment and interpret specific factors that may influence the occurrence of challenging behaviour

LO 4: Identify and illustrate logical intervention options based on prior assessment and formulation of the individual's behaviour

LO 5: Critically reflect on published case studies, and your own experiences of intervention or evaluation strategies
