Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach:
Face to face format using lectures and practical instruction supplemented with VLE resources detailing directed and reflective study. Lectures will be face to face and cover theory, technology, development and distribution. The lecturer led practical sessions will be using instruction materials that the student is required to complete weekly. By completing the successive tasks students will extend the knowledge that they gained from the published texts and lectures, whilst having access to lecturer support. Some of this time will also be set aside for monitoring progress on the coursework. Students will be encouraged to bring in their coursework each week to discuss their progress their lecturer. The remaining time will be devoted to directed study, where a comprehensive list of references will be supplied in order to illustrate advanced practice, these will incorporate videos, books and websites, which will be updated regularly (all LOs).

Formative Assessment:
Progress will be monitored throughout so that appropriate feedback can be provided during the development process.

Summative Assessment:
The coursework (all LOs) will be practical and involve the creation of an audio project in order to confirm that the student has successfully achieved all of the learning outcomes. The submission replicates a format common to radio production.

Sound and Audio: Physics, Psychophysics, Acoustics and Psychoacoustics
Recording Technology: Microphones, Consoles, Control Surfaces, Recorders
Signal Processing: Spectral, Temporal, Amplitude
Export and Reproduction: Mixing, Mastering, Formats, Delivery Methods, Reproduction Systems
