Description of module content:

The module aims to present a balanced approach to the subject area by addressing both the theory and practice of Business Intelligence. The module will cover a number of functional areas examining the sourcing and extraction of data, the analysis and development of intelligence, the presentation of the final product, and the evaluation and review of the process. The module will use a range of data mining tools such as OLAP and XMLA and will include the business intelligence products from SAP.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to
LO1: Understand fundamentals in business intelligence and reporting.
LO2: Construct business intelligence products from a given large data set using industry standard tools and techniques.
LO3: Present a business intelligence product using a range of contexts and media.
LO4: Critically compare, analyse and evaluate different technologies in business intelligence.
