Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach:
There is a blended approach to this learning and teaching strategy. Interactive on-line activities will prepare students prior to attending face to face tutorials throughout the trimester.
Theoretical perspectives of communication and interpersonal skills that impact on health and wellbeing will be introduced on-line (LO1,2,3). Students will explore frameworks and support mechanisms to proactively manage the well-being of people with a learning disability across the lifespan (LO3). The role of the learning disability nurse in developing the resilience of people with learning disabilities will be introduced on line and discussed in tutorial groups (L05).
The skills practice tutorials will be in the form of role play and related group work providing an opportunity to apply the theoretical perspectives and evidence base examined in the on-line and scenario based activities (L04).
This learning and teaching strategy supports a student led approach-allowing students to identify areas of particular interest and associated communication skills to explore and practice.
