Description of module content:

On this module you will be exploring, considering, questioning, experimenting with, and producing work around, the genre of Landscape Photography. Through lectures and demonstrations you will be introduced to the work of established practitioners alongside the theories, concepts and principles of Landscape Photography. In a series of exercises you will engage with the technical skills and equipment used. Research and experimentation will be recorded in creative workbooks, promoting critical thinking and reflective practice. Tutorials, seminars and group critiques will provide formative feedback and assist in developing a final project as a resolved body of work. You will have the opportunity to examine and engage in projects relating to a specialist area of photographic practice. The knowledge, skills and attributes employed in your practice are central to: creativity, self motivation and flexibility; self awareness and reflection, allowing you to evaluate your own learning, performance and achievements; the development of an individual practice which suits your interests and aspirations; the effective use of key intellectual, specialist and transferable skills; and a knowledge of the professional requirements of a chosen specialism.

Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 6 These consist of technical introductions to specific tools and equipment relevant to the tasks/exercises they are required to undertake within the Module.
Online Guided independent study 175.5 Students are guided by academic staff in undertaking the creative and technical briefs assigned to them whilst also required to demonstrate initiative and autonomy in their approach and creative and technical application.
Face To Face Lecture 5 Through lectures students engage with various examples of landscape photography and concepts and principles relevant to the consideration of landscape. Students are encouraged to share ideas and responses.
Face To Face Tutorial 13.5 Through work-in-progress tutorials academic staff and graduate assistants work with students to provide feedback through the discussion and analysis of research and work-in-progress.
