Learning & teaching methods including their alignment to LOsThe module provides you with an opportunity to examine, and engage in practice relating to, specific photographic genres. A series of illustrated lectures, followed by discussions, examine the work of practitioners in a variety of genres and introduce you to the key concepts, techniques and processes used in this specialist area of practice, while technical demonstrations introduce you to the main technical skills and equipment used. (LO 1, 2). Individual and group tutorials and group critiques take place throughout to provide you with formative feedback and give you the opportunity to develop further skills in articulating and communicating ideas (LO 5). You will underpin practical work with written research in terms of a Learning Contract, self assessment and technical and creative workbooks to develop skills in reflective practice, research and critical thinking (LO 3, 4). Project work will require independent and autonomous initiative at a professional level (LO6).Embedding of employability/ PDP/ scholarship skillsThe module provides you with an opportunity to examine, and engage in projects relating to a specialist area of photographic practice. The knowledge, skills and attributes employed in your practice are also central to employability: creativity, self motivation and flexibility; self awareness and reflection, allowing you to evaluate your own learning, performance and achievements; the development of an individual practice which suits your interests and aspirations; the effective use of key intellectual, specialist and transferable skills; and a knowledge of the professional requirements of your chosen specialism.Assessment (formative and summative)You will undertake one component of assessment during the module, comprising three elements: workbook, oral presentation and project submission.
