Description of module content:

This module aims to help you develop your unique creative voice as a screenwriter. Throughout the module you will explore storytelling, character development, and plot construction while learning to express your creative intent and unique perspective as a writer. The module encourages you to experiment with different approaches to screenwriting and take creative risks.

By the end of the module, you will be expected to have completed a fully developed short film script and outlines for a feature film and a 10-minute short. You will be left with a portfolio of work that showcases your ability to use screenwriting craft to communicate your personal creative vision.

Learning Outcomes for module:

1 Demonstrate the ability to take creative risks and push the boundaries of conventional screenwriting practices.
2 Demonstrate a detailed understanding of character development and produce protagonists, antagonists, and supporting characters who are fully realised, multi-dimensional, and authentic.
3 Apply knowledge of screenwriting craft by creating effective plot structure, strong dialogue, and visually interesting storytelling moments.
4 Critically reflect on your writing processes, development as a screenwriter, and personal creative ambitions.
