Description of module content:

On this module you will develop skills and knowledge on the importance of performance, as part of the research and development stages of screen based drama. You will undertake the role of producer, writer or director and collaborate with actors to create short screenplays. The focus of the work produced is the emotional arc of characters, and this will be developed in a workshop setting. You will undertake research in to directors and acting coaches, and explore their techniques and ethos for 'working with actors' for your own scenes. Rehearsal room practices will be underpinned with a dramaturgical understanding of film narrative form, where you will collaborate to achieve the artistic and narrative aims of your creative team. Following a period of research and development through practical workshops and seminars, you will collaborate with students working across the modules 'On-Set Production' and 'Cinematic Post-production', to produce short films that are based on the developed screenplays.
