During lectures students engage with examples of photojournalism and editorial and documentary photography from historical beginnings to contemporary examples including technical, ethical, visual, metaphorical and contextual issues. They evaluate the content of the delivered information in relation to assignments and are encouraged to share ideas and responses. |

| Project - Practical | 60 | 1~2~3~4~5 | Exam Period | HOURS= 10-40 images | A portfolio of visual work comprising exercises and a final photo story all with associated written captions, quotes and statements. Students work individually on a number of technical and creative briefs and exercises reflective of live editorial assignments. The final number of images required for each exercise will be determined by the particular news story or brief the students are asked to respond to. The photo story images should be submitted with a written statement and captions, the exact numner of images and length of written elements will be determined by the student's project. Working autonomously and in regular feedback sessions they work to build understanding and competency in the fundamental components of editorial photography. Students apply the knowledge learned in the exercises to a final creative editorial photo story. The portfolio might comprise but is not limited to images, written work and multimedia components. All works are submitted for final summative assessment.MLs will discuss with students the appropriate number of images required for submission, depending on the creative ambitions of their chosen project. |

Other materials associated with the module may also be included at this assessment point and added to the portfolio.
