Description of module content:

This module will focus on the diverse forms of impact that are associated with and can result from creative documentary filmmaking. You will explore different possible forms of impact, and will choose to focus on researching and developing one aspect of impact arising from your documentary film being made for the module 'Documentary Project'. With the approval of your Module Leader, you will devise your own chosen form of assessment. This could be written work focusing on, for example, a case study of interviews, or a reflection on research conducted, or an essay on the filmmaking process. You could submit an installation based on footage filmed for your documentary project. Or you could create a website, or an impact proposal, for your film. You might choose to create a photography portfolio with a textual element. Or you could submit a marketing and distribution strategy for your creative documentary film.

Independent Learning Lecture 12 Masterclasses with documentary filmmakers and producers who will introduce you to a wide range of possible impact strategies and outputs that might emerge from a documentary film. These masterclasses will help you to choose and develop an appropriate output for this module.
Independent Learning Seminar 18 Seminars will enable interaction, peer support, community building, discussions and knowledge exchange around cultural spaces visits and the development of your projects.
Independent Learning Tutorial 12 In tutorials, you will present discuss your ideas, research and practice with your tutor, and will receive formative feedback to support the development of your documentary impact ideas and practice.
Online Guided independent study 158 you will work independently to research, develop and produce your ideas, and to complete coursework for this module.
