Description of module content:

In this module you will explore your own creative voice and perspective as a documentary film practitioner. The module explores different creative approaches to film practice, and focuses specifically on non-fiction forms, such as documentary, experimental, immersive and hybrid. You will research a range of techniques and approaches to storytelling and creative visualisation. You will develop a critical understanding of the aesthetic, social, ethical and philosophical ideas underpinning different approaches to storytelling. You will acquire skills to present your own creative ideas and discover your authorial 'voice' in diverse contexts and media.

Independent Learning Seminar 22 These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss and present research progress, idea development, storytelling techniques and approaches, and for students to receive feedback from their tutors and peers.
Online Guided independent study 164 Students research a subject of their choice and develop a cinematic project proposal in which they consider their creative approach to story, image, sound and other aspects.
Independent Learning Lecture 14 Different staff members will share their ongoing research and film approaches through lectures, inspiring students to develop their own voice and approach.
