Description of module content:

Review of the design process and product design specifications, mechanical systems design, Functional Analysis and function structures, machine elements, engineering design codes and standards, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Value Analysis, Design for Manufacture.

Learning Outcomes for module:

On completion of this module you will be able to:
LO1: analyse a set of requirements, produce appropriate design concepts to meet them, and make informed judgements on the adequacy of alternative proposals.
LO2: develop an efficient design embodiment for an engineering system. LO3: produce detail designs to appropriate standards.
LO4: appropriately select and apply a number of formal engineering design methods
