Description of module content:

Health and safety management : Health and safety legislation, risk assessment and loss prevention, emergency procedures, occupational health, product and process design

Environmental management : environmental law including IPPC requirements, conducting an environmental review, requirements and implementation of ISO14001 / EMAS, waste minimisation, environmental engineering - process design, waste treatment

Managing people in an engineering environment : recruitment and interviewing, employment law, team management, goal setting and performance management, delegation, training and development, redeployment, redundancy and downsizing, health and safety,

Professional Standards : CEng requirements, codes of conduct, ethical behaviour, duty of care, confidentiality, intellectual property, record keeping, professional liability

Learning Outcomes for module:

On completion of this module you will be able to:
LO1: apply health, safety, environmental and commercial risk assessment techniques to engineering
LO2: integrate professional engineering standards to professional practice and comply with the requirements
of society and professional institutions;
