Theory of finite elements
Procedure for creating finite element models

Solution and presentation of results from finite element analysis
Interpretation of stress and heat transfer results from finite element analysis

Learning Outcomes for module:

On completion of this module you will be able to:
LO1: Analyse structures, using finite element software to determine stress, deformation resulting from specified loading and
LO2: Validate the results of a finite element analysis by comparison with standard calculations
LO3: Acknowledge finite element theory and software coding and assess their influence on the interpretation of results from a finite element analysis;
LO4: Weight up and interpret the significance of results from a finite element analysis in terms of structural integrity, design goals, liability and litigation.
