Description of module content:

This practice module will introduce you to mental health care services where you will work within The Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour (Nursing Midwifery Council 2015) using ethical and moral practices; you will explore professional rights and responsibilities, professional boundaries and ongoing professional development. Under direct supervision you will observe and participate in the assessment, delivery and evaluation of compassionate patient care within service delivery. You will observe and participate in the role of the nurse in leading, managing and co-ordinating all aspects of evidence based patient care. You will work with patients in a relationship based way that promotes diversity and equality and work in collaboration with others who work in the health and social care setting to provide care to individuals and their families. During this module you will develop clinical skills commensurate with Part One of the BN Programme that emphasise effective communication, compassion and partnership working. You will engage in the practice of infection control and complete associated theory (Cleanliness Champions Programme) and numeracy related to practice.
You will enhance your knowledge of factors that can have an impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals and how health can be promoted and maintained with the support of mentors and other professional who support student learning. You will reflect on how social care standards and policies are used in practice to improve standards of care within your practice learning experience. You will enhance your knowledge of factors that can have an impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals and how health can be promoted and maintained with the support of mentors and other professional who support student learning. You will observe and participate in establishing and building trust in relationships.
